lunch by twitter

I've written a couple times about Kogi BBQ, who started the LA trend of gourmet food trucks that create followings by announcing their locations via twitter. I have no idea how many trucks have jumped on the bandwagon (I would guess 20 or more), but you can now find anything from Kogi's original korean bbq burritos and tacos, to gourmet cupcakes, to shaved ice, to grilled cheese via tweeting food trucks. Today I finally got the chance to try another one that I've been hoping to - Fishlips Sushi. I keep forgetting that there is a part of El Segundo to the east of Sepulveda Blvd, but it seems to be where the food trucks like to go, understandably because of the concentration of office towers, and generally its as close as they get to the beach. Still, it was close enough for me to bop over in the middle of some work to grab a tray of sushi. It was no Katsu, but it was pretty good. It was the first time I have had Temari - a ball-shaped piece of sushi, which I liked more than I expected to. It was better than the accompanying roll, but next time I need to remember to ask for extra wasabi. Definitely worth a try if they come to a location near you; you can follow them @fishlips_sushi.
