the bad and the ugly

A few days ago ran across a Business Week photo essay of the World's Ugliest Cars. It was pretty much the typical results that you would expect - the Pacer, the Gremlin, the Yugo, the Chevette. No surprises. Today I stumbled on a pretty interesting photo essay in Time magazine - the 50 Worst cars of All Time. This one I learned some things from. All but two of the Ugliest picks also made it in the Worst Cars list (there has to be a correlation there). From the 1899 Horsey Horseless (which had a horses head on the front in order to not scare the horses pulling carriages on the street), to the 1958 Zunndapp Janus ("Its unique feature was the rear-facing bench seat, which meant passengers could watch in horror as traffic threatened to rear-end this rolling roadblock of a car"), to the Triumph TR7, which I remember one of the lifeguards at our pool driving when I was a kid (I thought it was so cool, but it sure broke down a lot), the list is pretty interesting.
