gobble it

I usually don't make it home for Thanksgiving. (In fact, I'm not sure if I ever have...) A few years I went to "orphan Thanksgivings" that friends or friends of friends would have for people whose families weren't nearby, but I never found it much fun to have a big meal with a bunch of strangers, and on top of it all, you never end up with the best part: leftovers! So for several years, I've pretty much had a low-key Thanksgiving on my own, sometimes with a friend or two, sometimes just myself, and I've always really enjoyed that. A few years back I didn't get my Turkey until Thanksgiving Day, so my only option was a turkey that didn't need defrosting. It turned out to be the best I've had, so now I swear by em. Jennie-O makes em. They're pre-seasoned, pre-everything. You take it out of the outer bag, and stick it directly in the oven - no thawing, no preparation. You wait for the timer to pop (ahem, Casey!), and its done. If you like to stuff your turkey or have some family basting recipe you like, need a 20 pounder, or prefer to deep fry yours or go for turducken, well then this isn't for you. But if you find no personal joy in the preparation of a turkey, but like to have one, then I highly recommend giving this a shot. Or just come by and you can try some of mine.
