back up

Well I never meant to stop posting as soon as I got back to the States… but now I'm back up in the air (well, actually between flights, but still...) on another adventure, so lets start it again so I can share it with you.  I still have lots to go back and post that I never got to from South Korea and Australia, but that will have to wait. Many of you know I'm a bit of a Eurovision fan, and I'm on my way to this year's contest. For those that don't know, Eurovision is the world's most watched tv show every year (that you may have never heard of -  because the US isn't in it.)  I describe it as the World Cup meets American Idol. Countries from around the World (43 this year) enter an act that is judged through two semi finals and a finals over the course of a week, by 50% jury vote and 50% viewer tele-vote. But for music aficionados, this isn't for you. This is a popularity contest, and usually pop "earworm" songs, with links to a music called schlager (which I also love.) This is where ABBA came from. Celine Dion, Katrina and the Waves, and Bucks Fizz also won past years. To me, its an ultimate kitsch festival. You have to embrace it to love it, and I do. (So much so that I even made this video to try to win tickets. I failed.) This one is also an adventure for me because I'm gambling on a super cheap overseas flight on Norwegian Air - which meant flying an unlinked flight up to Oakland to catch it. That part worked, thankfully. But that makes this part of the trip to also be a test to see just how that goes. Anyway, stay tuned…  I'll do my best to post more.
