jonberrydesign Dishes Up Graphics Package for New Style Network Series "Hot Guys Who Cook"

jonberrydesign designed and produced the main title and graphics package for the new Style Network series "Hot Guys Who Cook," produced by Super Delicious. “Hot Guys Who Cook” is a cooking comedy series that features men from different professions in their own kitchens sharing the secrets of their favorite dishes.

The project was a challenge because the network wanted to feature as many guys as possible, yet the show is comprised of home audition video clips whose quality was all over the road. We had to find a way to showcase those clips, yet not call attention to the varying quality of the footage we had to work with. I landed on the concept of bubbles. Who doesn’t like bubbles?! The bubbles set a fun and upbeat tone for the show, and allow a large number of video clips to be presented within the open. The concept also provides a springboard for a flexible internal graphics package that can showcase pop-up imagery and text in a variety of formats as comic relief throughout the show. The package uses a primarily white base to fit the Style Network look and feel, with touches of lime, orange, turquoise, and even a little cranberry to add to the flavor. The show logo was created by Style Network/E! Networks Art Director Lauraine Gibbons.

The completed package includes the main title sequence, bumps, various upper and lower third formats, information panel formats, backgrounds, mortises, and transitions. All design and animation was completed by jonberrydesign using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects entirely on Apple Macintosh platforms.

Hot Guys Who Cook airs on The Style Network Wednesday nights at 9:30pm ET/PT.
