olympics by design

Here are a few more pics of some of the work I've been doing for the Olympics broadcasts here in London. The first three pics are "bumpers" that you may be familiar with from previous Olympics I've blogged here. (reminder: you can click on images for a full-size view.) These often run in monitors or video walls during broadcasts when tossing to event coverage or to/from a commercial break. In fact, the USA/Serbia and Track&Field bumpers were tonight's project, so if you watch Saturday's daytime broadcast, you may see them. For the first few days, we used template formats for our bumpers, but after a couple days of those, we've begun to break into new designs of our own to add more variety and continue to broaden the look. The two long graphics underneath are for projection on the cylinder above the desk on the set (thus why the graphic is centered in one certain area). At this point, we're in what I call the "burn stage" of Olympics - when we get tired of doing the same thing and the schedule starts to wear you down while we don't yet see the light at the end of the tunnel; but before we know it, it will suddenly be over.
