The brand identity for KRON-TV in San Francisco is a clean, modern, and community-focused redesign that honors the station’s legacy while reflecting the spirit of the Bay Area. Designed by jonberrydesign in collaboration with Nexstar’s Vince Conti and KRON’s Matt Damore, the look builds on KRON’s red, white, and black palette, expanded with soft grays and accents of blue and yellow inspired by local scenery and the station’s visual history. Guided by circular geometry, clean typography, and a Bauhaus-inspired structure, the system uses motion rather than traditional effects to bring energy that resolves into clear, understated compositions that support the news content rather than distract from it. The newscast opens act as a visual love letter to the city, spotlighting landmarks like Sutro Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge. A new custom music package by Stephen Arnold Music, built around KRON’s legendary “Instant Classics” theme by Michael Boyd, further reinforces the connection to the station’s past while giving it a fresh, modern sound. Familiar yet revitalized, the identity helps position KRON for the future as it celebrates 75 years in the Bay Area.
