If you come to Key West, don't rent a car. You don't need one (unless youre planning to drive somwhere off the island). Theres nowhere to park it anyway. You can walk just about everywhere, though another popular mode of transport is the scooter. Like anything in Key West, some people like theirs to be a little different.
