News opens for KXAS-TV, the NBC affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth, designed to be used during The 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. With the Games in a US time zone, coverage aired during all dayparts with special openings for local newscasts and breaks. This look merged visual cues from NBC's coverage as well as inspiration from the 1984 LA Olympics, which played on festive colors and patterns instead of an expected red white and blue palette.
