News opens for KXAS-TV, the NBC affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth, designed for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. With coverage airing across all dayparts, special openings were created for local newscasts and news breaks throughout the day. A special Olympics version of the station’s 5 logo was also introduced for the Games and the weeks leading up to them. The design blended elements from NBC’s Olympic coverage with inspiration from the 1984 LA Olympics, incorporating stars, stripes, and festive colors - while intentionally avoiding the typical red, white, and blue palette.
