perfect fourth
Oops. Sorry for the silence; got caught up in going from fourth recovery to being a little busier than expected the last couple days, so only now playing some catch-up and recapping the fourth. My friend Romain came down from Hollywood and we met up with Pat & Steve for the world famous Hermosa Ironman in the morning. As you may know from previous years, this Ironman is different. Its a 40 year tradition that you could easily never notice, yet still gets lots of whining from new residents who don't know Hermosa Beach. In the Hermosa Ironman, you run a mile, paddle a mile on a surfboard, and then chug a six pack. The first to hold it for 20 minutes without ralphing wins. A tradition like no other is always a fun way to kick start the day. From there we biked and wandered among a lot of our favorite watering holes, grub joints, and some new places too; barely surviving that mid-evening fatigue to make it through to be right on the water for the fireworks in Redondo at the end of the evening. Actually, we made it even longer: adding another beer at Naja's plus some games at the pier's arcade and topping that off with another stop in Hermosa, before then calling it a night and biking back up the beach to home. Another perfect fourth of July in the Beach Cities. 360 days or so to go til the next one.
