open season

Some scenes from the avp Manhattan Beach Open this weekend. It seems the avp is threatening to move the tournament away from Manhattan Beach because they aren't able to make enough money by using public beach property. Interesting, because you couldn't look in any direction without being bombarded by logos and products being hawked at you. Apparently they've pulled out before, so the city ran its own tournament. Seems like that wouldn't be such a bad thing to me. I noticed pictures in the local bars of older tourneys from years ago, I'm sure it never could return to that, but it would be nice to see a tourney more like those.
