neighborhood watch

My neighbors have a rooftop deck they've created on - well, their roof. They get onto it by climbing through a hatch. I love the way it looks with the lights on in the evening.

Manhattan Beach is often thought of as a little "precious" because its the kind of place with multi-million dollar McMansions and ostentatious cars. The El Porto end of Manhattan Beach is a little less so - it still retains a little bit of the bohemian funky beach feel - mixed in with the precious. I love the view of the refinery tanks and power plants and oil tankers mixed with the ocean and mountains and sunsets when looking in the direction of these photos. Compared to the more pristine views on the southern end, this just seems more real. And real is beautiful.
