After living in California so long, you sometimes begin to forget what blue but cloudy skies look like. We often go for months without them; and when we do have cloudy skies, they tend to be in the winter with grey skies. I snapped these yesterday on the way to Fort Lauderdale from Miami. They're typical of the skies I remember from childhood trips to see family in Miami, especially in the summer when every afternoon big thunderstorms would roll in seemingly from nowhere, and then just as quickly disappear. The size and depth of those clouds always impressed me - layer upon layer upon layer with rich color variations. These never opened up, so they just made for nice company along the drive.
