VIDEO | NIGHTSPEED | PIX11 NEW YORK & KRON4 TV SAN FRANCISCO

The Nightspeed broadcast sports graphics package for KRON4’s Sports Night Live and PIX11’s New York Nightcap extends a city-driven motion design system across two distinct media markets. Originally developed for San Francisco, the package builds on the circular geometry of KRON4’s Circa identity, translating it into a sports-focused visual language defined by rhythm, motion, and layered urban imagery rather than team branding or game footage. The system uses motion as narrative structure - streaks of light, pixel-like dot patterns inspired by scoreboard imagery, and precise typographic pacing evoke the energy of live sports and the pulse of nighttime cityscapes.

For its expansion to New York City, the core motion language, pacing, and typography remain consistent, while imagery is recontextualized to reflect Manhattan’s density and verticality. San Francisco executions emphasize city-specific nightscapes, including freeway time-lapse light trails, cable cars in motion, and the Golden Gate Bridge and Embarcadero. New York builds on the same framework with layered skylines, bridges, and dense traffic punctuated by yellow cabs. This hyper-localized visual approach anchors each version firmly in its city while demonstrating how a single broadcast graphics system can translate across different environments.
