taste of paris

So I did a little better yesterday of doing what's to be expected of a visitor in Paris. I went for a long walk through Notre Dame, the Left Bank, The Louvre, The Tuileries, down Champs-Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe (who knew the arc had an inside?? or that you could go on top?!), and on down to the Eiffel Tower. Plus, I mastered the Metro. I have to say, for feeling guilty after my first day for not seeing any "sights", I probably actually enjoyed that day more. While I did enjoy them all, I also felt like I was a spectator of someone else's home and lifestyle. The previous day wandering the local neighborhood and visiting bars and cafes, I felt like more of a participant... Probably a good lesson to learn at this stage of the trip, and for this type of trip where the goal is just to get a taste of each place.
